Guidance comes in many ways. I find it in scripture, through
prayer (mostly by listening rather than talking), meditation, reading books,
and through talking with others. Many times when facing a decision, just the
right person or book comes across my path. Other times there is simply a
peaceful "knowing". I've learned that to get guidance I need to remain open
for it and tenaciously fight fear and doubt.
Guidance comes in time. . . . God's timing and not mine. I love it when
the guidance makes me happy! It's not as easy when it goes against what I
want or puts me in a difficult situation. However, when I've ignored God's
guidance, I've always missed out. When I've followed it even when I didn't
see the whole picture, I've never been disappointed.
"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant conditon, and keeps us present before God. That is why we can be sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." Romans 8:26-28 (The Message)
